Biography

Past

As stated past Herlock Solmes in The Adventures of Sherlock Mario, when Bowser Koopa was young, he was cowardly bully who the other koopas never allow play with them and gave the nick-proper name, "lizard-lips". He too had urinary incontinence until he was twelve and flunked kindergarten so many times that he established a world tape for it.

In adult years, Bowser somehow established himself as the tyrannical king of the unabridged Koopa race and other species, such as the Goombas, Piranha Plants, Shy Guys, etc. He also evidently sired seven children, which included the brutish Dandy Koopa, the talkative Big Mouth Koopa, the devious Cheatsy Koopa, the inventive Kooky Von Koopa, the vain Kootie Pie Koopa, and the twins, Hip and Hop Koopa.

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show

As shown by the intro, Rex Koopa had nearly conquered the unabridged Mushroom Kingdom, and was on the verge of attaining consummate control by capturing its ruler, Princess Toadstool and her assistant, Toad, who he had cornered on a cliff with a platoon of his minions. All the same, just earlier Koopa could grab her, he appallingly noticed the heroic plumbers, Mario and Luigi suddenly appearing from a warp piping leading from their world to the Mushroom Kingdom. After witnessing them inadvertently defeat his army, Koopa was forced to make a hasty retreat.

Since then, King Koopa has constantly attempted to kidnap the princess again and once more, often with the help of his assistant, Mouser and his other liutenants, Tryclyde, Clawgrip and Fry Guy, but was ever thwarted by the Mario Bros, who act as her bodyguards as they traversed the land, liberating the various territories of the Mushroom Kingdom from Koopa's command while also searching for a way to bulldoze the evil monarch out of the kingdom for skillful. Sometimes, the threat Rex Koopa posed often shifted, as, in some instances, he would only appear as a minor badgerer while in others he would conquer or come close to destroying cities, towns, or fifty-fifty planets.

In nearly every episode, King Koopa adopted various unlike aliases based on what he was doing or planning on doing to aggrandize/enforce his rule, with almost all of said aliases being a parody of a real-life figure or a famous fictional graphic symbol. Some of the most notable of these aliases are Count Koopula, Professor Kooparity, The Pied Koopa, Dr. Koopenstein, Koopenstein's Monster, Koopfinger, The Sheriff of Kopingham, Koopa Nemo, Koop-zilla, Darth Koopa, Moon Man Koopa, Kool Koopa, Approximate Koopa, Warden Koopa, King O'Koopa, Koopa Klaus, Red Businesswoman Koopa, Rappin' Koopa, El Koopitan, Klaimjump Koopa, Karate Koopa, Barra-Koopa, Kolonel Van Koop, Kangaroo Koopa, Rex Goo Goo Ga Ga Koopa, Rex of the Road Koopa, Helm Koopa, Giant Koopa, Emperor Augustus, Septemberus, Octoberus Koopa, Alley Koop, Koopa Kahn, Blackbeard Koopa, Redcoat Koopa, Al Koopone, Koop Tut, Baton the Koopa and Robo Koopa. Sometimes, he would wear a costume without an change ego or disguise himself to impersonate others. Towards the end of every episode, Koopa would exist defeated (more often than not in a very humiliating way) and would lose whatever stronghold of the Mushroom Kingdom he had, although he would sometimes manage to evade capture, usually by the aid of a Magic Potion that would transport him to a warp zone.

The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3

In the sequel series, it is established that, sometime betwixt the events of the ii series, Mario and Luigi managed to defeat and afterward imprison Koopa inside a Banishment Zone before sealing information technology off with ten grand bricks, finally freeing the Mushroom Kingdom from his dominion before returning to Brooklyn. But afterward, much to anybody's shock, Koopa somehow escaped his imprisonment and in one case again attacked the Mushroom Kingdom with his newly built Doom Ship. In improver, he has introduced his own children, the Koopa Kids, as the newest commanders of his ground forces. Koopa was able to cement his rule in the foreboding Dark State region of the Mushroom Kingdom, where he and his children resided in their palace, and has continued to devise new plans to to consolidate the rest of the country under his clawed pollex. Faced with his return, the Mario Bros. came out of retirement to once again defend the Mushroom Kingdom against the evil Koopa family.

Knowing how his past direct confrontations with the plumbers had gone in the past, Koopa operated well-nigh all of his schemes through his minions and children and dropped his use of aliases entirely. While his goals of taking over the Mushroom Kingdom remained the aforementioned, Koopa'due south methods of doing so became noticeably stranger than what he had done in the previous serial, such as when he tried to have his children capture Prince Hugo the Huge by transforming them into behemothic ninjas and then he could turn the Prince into a poodle or when he tried to use a magical artifact called the Doom-Dancer music box to force everyone in the Mushroom Kingdom to dance. On top of wanting to conquer to the Mushroom Kingdom, Koopa expanded his goals to include the existent earth on a regular basis likewise, although he probable just wanted to practise and so in lodge to spite the Mario Brothers.

Aside from attempting to rule both the Mushroom Kingdom and the real world, a variety of Koopa's appearances involved him trying to teach his children how to go villains like himself, such as when he broke infamous criminal "Crime Wave" Clyde out of prison and hired him to teach them how to be criminals, or trying to please them (specifically Kootie Pie) at the expense of others. Like in the previous series, King Koopa would e'er be beaten towards the stop of the episode, supposedly beingness fully defeated in the episode "Super Koopa" (although this is merely considering it was the concluding episode produced).

Super Mario Globe

In the terminal cartoon series, King Koopa and the Koopa Kids, after beingness banished from the Mushroom Kingdom withal over again, somehow managed to escape into Dinosaur Land. Equally stated by Luigi in the episode "Mama Luigi" equally Mario, Princess Toadstool and himself attempted to take a holiday in Dinosaur Land, Koopa attacked and kidnapped the Princess, although he was defeated thanks to Yoshi and they decided to stay in Dinosaur Land as a result.

Koopa'southward goals are portrayed on a significantly smaller scale than in previous appearances, every bit he is simply ever shown trying to have control of Dinosaur Country, particularly Dome City, although it has no real benefits for him. In his last appearance in "A Lilliputian Learning", King Koopa was left in his chamber as it was rapidly filling with lava, meaning that he could have potentially met his demise, although this remains unconfirmed.

Just then, the Snifit takes i of the bombs and explodes it on his easily, and, using his newfound intelligence, usurps Koopa and dumps him into Fryguy Kindergarten, where he is crowned by a grouping of over-excited Fryguys.

While Koopa is not beyond keeping his discussion, he frequently does break it. Koopa will not hesitate to dispose of those who have outlived their usefulness to him. As seen in the episode Crimes R Us, Koopa's justification for turning on Clyde is that he, had his fingers crossed when he agreed to split everything stolen equally, thus allowing Koopa to cut Clyde out of the deal later on; These sort of justifications are unremarkably employed logic for Koopa to get-away with most anything as far as he is concerned. His exact traits shift wildly though from episode to episode. He even takes on other villains and becoming an even bigger threat to the country they were targeting.

Differences from Bowser

  • The most obvious difference from his video game counterpart, King Koopa'due south design is based heavily on Bowser's sprite in the original game and consists largely of the color green, although Bowser looks nothing like this in the manual or post-obit games. He likewise lacks hair and wears a golden crown and only wears two spiked armbands instead of four and no spiked neckband around his neck.
  • King Koopa does not possess the power to breathe or shoot fire, ane of Bowser'south virtually notable traits, and instead uses his various magic wands or minions for long ranged attacks. In the intro to Super Mario World, he notably throws a fireball at the Brothers while escaping.
  • While Bowser is usually portrayed as having a securely rooted infatuation with Princess Peach, Male monarch Koopa is never shown as having this trait and instead would rather kill or sell Princess Toadstool off if he saw no demand in having her effectually, something that Bowser would never do.
    • He did, however, endeavour to ally the princess in "Practice You lot Princess Toadstool Take This Koopa...?", though only to become the legal ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, and even bankrupt Toadstool's status that he would set the Mushroom people costless.
  • While it has been confirmed that Bowser is not the biological begetter of the Koopalings (although it is possible that he could've adopted them) King Koopa is seen as the biological father of the Koopa Kids.
  • Although Bowser has never fully succeeded in conquering the Mushroom Kingdom, during the Mario Bros. Super Show, Rex Koopa actually did accept command over a big portion of the Kingdom until he was defeated and driven out by the Mario Brothers. In The Adventures Of Super Mario Bros. iii, information technology was revealed that he moved to Darkland. In the Super Mario World series, he and his kids moved to Dinosaur World.
  • In order to employ the Mario Brother'southward power-ups, King Koopa had to use a special pendant created by Kooky and be in the real world, however, every bit shown in games such as Super Mario 3D Globe, Bowser can use them just equally hands as the brothers can.
  • Rex Koopa, in Super Show and the Nintendo Comic System, was the leader of the viii Bit Guild as part of his Koopa Pack instead of Wart, just Bowser has no relationship with the 8 Bit Club.
  • Bowser, despite his roughshod nature, is shown in games such every bit Super Mario RPG and Bowser's Within Story to actually care about the lives and well existence of his minions, although Rex Koopa rarely treats any of his minions with kindness or respect outside of Mouser on some occasions.
  • King Koopa is shown to be extremely cowardly on various occasions, and almost e'er runs when confronted by the Mario Brothers (specially in the subsequently cartoons), while Bowser almost never runs from a confrontation with the Mario Brothers.

Trivia

  • In the Nintendo Comics System, information technology is unsaid that Rex Koopa is either affiliated with or the possessor of the Apook Corporation, a visitor that creates and sells virtually of the Mushroom Kingdom'south commercial products, due to the fact that the name "Apook" is "Koopa" spelled backward. In addition, Male monarch Koopa uses his design from the Mario cartoons.
    • Despite this implication, Mario and his allies use products from the Apook Corporation on multiple occasions, making it possible that Koopa truly is unrelated to the company.
  • Coincidentally, King Koopa'due south plot to marry Princess Toadstool in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show episode "Do Y'all Princess Toadstool Take This Koopa....?" parallels Bowser'southward similar plan in Super Mario Odyssey. Although the episode predates the game by more than twenty-eight years.
  • In the episode "The Adventures of Sherlock Mario", the character Herlock Solmes, when asked about Koopa, states that he is a cross between a lizard and an inferior species of toad, has a encephalon smaller than a peanut, holds the world tape for flunking kindergarten the almost times and moisture the bed until he was twelve. Whether all this is truthful or not is arguable, as Solmes was trying to insult Koopa, although Mouser implies that his deductions had a caste of accuracy.
  • In Mario Golf for the Nintendo 64, one of Bowser'south costumes is based on Rex Koopa'south color scheme. This also happens in Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Boom Bros. Ultimate where Rex Koopa's color scheme appears as one of Bowser'southward alternating costumes.
  • Rex Koopa's Koopa the Kid alter-ego in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show episode, "Butch Mario and the Luigi Child" bears a striking resemblance to Bowser's "Bowser the Brash" costume in Western Land of Mario Party two.
  • In the Swedish dub of the episode "'Princess Toadstool for President" Koopa says "Din jäv..." but stops himself. This marks one of few times a cuss word is used in the series as jäv is the kickoff letters of a Swedish profanity.
  • King Koopa's final physical appearance is "A Little Learning" while he, Mario, and Princess Toadstool only announced in a flashback in the concluding Super Mario World episode "Mama Luigi".
  • This iteration of Koopa is a composite of Bowser and Wart.
    • He has the physical shape and personality of King Koopa, as well as the coloration, and crown from Wart. Not to mention the eight Bits appear among his minions, who were Wart's minions in Super Mario Bros. two. As the original plan was to have both characters as villains, but they ended upward being merged together in the final product.
